Community Projects

Empowering Communities, Protecting Wildlife, and Fighting Climate Change

Serengeti Baobab Safaris is proudly founded and led by a Maasai ecologist with a deep connection to the land, its people, and its wildlife. With firsthand insight into the challenges of living alongside conservation areas and a changing climate, we are committed to driving meaningful impact. Our mission is to uplift communities, protect wildlife, and preserve cultural and natural heritage through education, awareness, and sustainable action.

Through our sister organization, the Tanzania Conservation and Community Empowerment Initiative (TACCEI), we deliver community-driven programs across northern Tanzania, where conservation and livelihoods grow together. These efforts come to life through focused programs that address the interconnected needs of people, wildlife, and the environment. Currently, we support the following projects in our communities;

  • Eco-tourism: With capital and marketing support from Serengeti Baobab Safaris and other organization partners, we support Maasai women in creating sustainable income through handicraft beadwork products, including bracelets, necklaces, etc.
  • Education Support: Expanding access to education for children and youth through child sponsorship, building of classrooms, and providing essential learning materials to the most vulnerable children in the community.
  • Entrepreneurship: We support women through Savings and loan groups to empower small businesses and financial independence. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the bush before continuing your afternoon exploration.As the sun sets, transfer to your luxury tented camp or lodge for dinner and a peaceful overnight stay under the African sky.
  • Human-Wildlife Coexistence: We support the implementation of Practical solutions to reduce conflicts and foster coexistence between people and wildlife.
  • Wildlife Research: We support technology-informed ecological research to guide effective and long-term conservation of wildlife and biodiversity.
  • Climate-Smart Gardens: We work to strengthen food security and resilience at the household level in the community.
  • Tree Planting: We support the establishment of tree nurseries in schools and communities to restore ecosystems and ensure lasting impact.
