A 3-day safari from Arusha is a perfect short adventure into the heart of Tanzania’s wildlife. In just a few days, you explore the beauty of Tarangire National Park, famous for its giant elephants and iconic baobab trees, then journey to the endless plains of Serengeti National Park, home to lions, cheetahs, and the spectacular Great Migration. Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park

Your safari begins with an early morning departure from Arusha at approximately 7:30–8:00 AM, heading southwest toward Tarangire National Park, a journey of about two to three hours. Upon arrival, you will commence your first game drive, immersing yourself in the park’s diverse landscapes characterized by iconic baobab trees and seasonal wetlands. Tarangire is renowned for its large elephant herds, as well as an abundance of wildlife including lions, giraffes, zebras, and wildebeest.

In the afternoon, you will enjoy a picnic lunch within the park, often near the Tarangire River, which serves as a vital water source and attracts a high concentration of animals. After lunch, continue with an extended game drive, exploring different sections of the park. As the day comes to a close, you will exit the park and proceed to a nearby lodge or tented camp for dinner and an overnight stay in a tranquil natural setting.

Day 2: Tarangire to Serengeti National Park via Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Following an early breakfast, you will depart for the world-famous Serengeti National Park. The journey takes you through the scenic Ngorongoro Conservation Area, offering breathtaking views of highland landscapes and wildlife along the way. An optional cultural stop at a Maasai village can be arranged, providing insight into the traditions and lifestyle of the Maasai people.

By afternoon, you will enter the Serengeti and begin a game drive en route to your accommodation. A picnic lunch will be enjoyed during the journey. The Serengeti’s vast plains are home to an extraordinary concentration of wildlife, including lions, cheetahs, leopards, and large herds of wildebeest and zebras—particularly during the Great Migration season.

In the evening, you will arrive at your lodge or camp located within the park, where you will have dinner and spend the night surrounded by the sounds of the African wilderness.

Day 3: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha

The final day begins with an early morning sunrise game drive in the Serengeti, a prime time to observe predators such as lions and leopards in action. After the game drive, you will depart for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, one of Africa’s most remarkable natural wonders.

The crater is renowned for its dense wildlife population and offers one of the best opportunities to spot the Big Five—lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and the rare black rhino—within a relatively small area. You will enjoy a picnic lunch near a hippo pool, surrounded by the breathtaking scenery of the crater floor.

In the afternoon, you will ascend the crater walls and begin your return journey to Arusha, arriving in the early evening. This marks the end of your memorable three-day safari experience in Northern Tanzania.
